About Apprendly RolePlay
What is Apprendly RolePlay?
This is an interactive role-playing game from Apprendly where you communicate with digital characters using your phone. The goal is to learn and explore engaging scenarios as a part of training.
What do I need to participate?
You’ll need a smartphone, computer, or tablet (or even a fridge!) with a microphone and a stable internet connection. Apprendly RolePlay runs directly in your web browser; there’s no need to download a separate app.
Do I need any prior experience to use RolePlay?
Not at all. RolePlay is designed to be intuitive for first-time users. If you can open a link and talk, you can use it. Many teams use RolePlay as a low-pressure way to practice skills, so the learning curve is intentionally light. Bring curiosity, test a few scenarios, and you will pick it up quickly.
What formats are supported for embedding RolePlays?
RolePlay currently supports SCORM 2004 4th Edition for LMS embedding. Legacy Apprendly games support both xAPI cmi5 and SCORM 2004 4th Edition. We are planning to add RolePlay support for cmi5 as well. If you need a specific integration, reach out and we can confirm current options.
Privacy & Data
Is my conversation used to train an AI?
No, your conversations are not used to train an AI. We don’t store personal data from your conversations. Your focus is on learning and exploring scenarios, and we treat your data with full respect for your privacy. See the trust center for details: AI safety.
How is my personal data handled?
We take privacy seriously. All data is processed in compliance with applicable laws and privacy guidelines. We don’t process personal data, and therefore, we don’t store any information about the individuals playing the game. You can read more about our privacy policy here: apprendly privacy policy.
Do you store recordings of the conversations?
No, we don’t store recordings of the actual conversations you have with the digital characters. We only store a conversation log, which is solely used by the AI to evaluate how well a game was completed.
Where is my data stored?
All data is stored in the EU. Our AI models are hosted in the EU, and authentication data is handled in the EU via Auth0. Your data does not leave Europe. For more detail, see the trust center: Data privacy.

Using Apprendly RolePlay
How do I start a conversation?
Once you’ve opened Apprendly RolePlay in your browser, pressed “Start,” and granted microphone access, if you are on a mobile device, you’ll hold down the button with the microphone icon to speak. If you are on a computer, you hold down the spacebar to enable speaking through the microphone. When you release this button or key, the AI character will no longer be able to hear you.
What can I talk about with the characters?
The characters are designed to guide you through various scenarios and dilemmas relevant to your role. You can ask them questions, provide answers, and explore different outcomes based on the dialogue. Feel free to experiment and see what happens!
What languages are supported?
RolePlay supports a wide range of languages for conversation, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin), and Russian. We keep adding more languages based on customer demand.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees for standard plans. If you cancel, your account remains active until the end of your current billing period. For enterprise agreements, the terms are defined in your contract.
Do you offer discounts for educational institutions or nonprofits?
Yes. We provide special pricing for educational institutions, nonprofits, and NGOs. Contact our sales team at contact@apprendly.com with details about your organization to learn more.
Do you support Single Sign-On (SSO)?
Yes. For enterprise customers we support SSO using common identity providers. Auth0 supports SAML, OpenID Connect, and other enterprise identity protocols. See SSO for enterprise customers for more details.
